DataFort is CommFlow's enterprise-grade file storage and management system. Securely store, organize, and share files with your team.

What is DataFort?#

DataFort provides a centralized location for all your team's files:

  • Secure Storage - Enterprise-level security for your files

  • Collaboration - Share files and folders with teammates

Getting Started#

Accessing DataFort#

  1. Click DataFort in the sidebar
  2. View your files and folders
  3. Use the toolbar for actions

Core Functions#

Uploading Files#

Method 1: Drag and Drop

  1. Open DataFort
  2. Drag files from your computer
  3. Drop onto the upload area
  4. Files upload automatically

Method 2: Upload Button

  1. Click Upload button
  2. Select files from your computer
  3. Click Open to upload

Method 3: From Conversations

  1. In any conversation, click the attachment icon
  2. Upload directly
  3. File is saved to DataFort

Creating Folders#

  1. Click New Folder button
  2. Enter folder name
  3. Optionally select a parent folder
  4. Click Create

Moving Files#

  1. Select file(s) to move
  2. Right-click and select Move to
  3. Choose destination folder
  4. Confirm move

File Preview#

Click any file to preview without downloading:

  • Documents - Full document viewer
  • Images - Image viewer with zoom
  • Video - Video player
  • Audio - Audio player
  • Other - Download prompt

Downloading Files#

  1. Select file(s)
  2. Click Download or right-click menu
  3. Files download to your device

Multiple files download as a ZIP archive.

Add tags for cross-folder organization:

Adding Tags:

  1. Select a file
  2. Click Add Tag
  3. Create or select tag
  4. Tag appears on file

Popular Tags:

  • important - Critical files
  • review - Needs review
  • draft - Work in progress
  • final - Approved version

Sharing & Permissions#

Sharing Files#

Share files with teammates:

  1. Select file or folder
  2. Click Share
  3. Add team members
  4. Set permission level
  5. Click Share

Permissions cascade to subfolders:

  • Set permissions at folder level
  • All contents inherit permissions

Files in Conversations#

Files attach seamlessly to conversations:

  • Team Chat - Share files in channels or DMs
  • Live Support - Send files to customers
  • Inbox - Attach files to tickets

Share files with a link:

  1. Right-click file
  2. Select Copy Link
  3. Paste in any conversation
  4. Recipients can view/download

Security#

Encryption#

All files are encrypted:

  • At Rest - AES-256 encryption
  • In Transit - TLS 1.3

Access Control#

Multiple layers of protection:

  1. Workspace Level - Member must be in workspace
  2. Module Level - Must have DataFort access
  3. Folder Level - Folder permissions
  4. File Level - File-specific permissions
